On Tuesday evening Morgan County Deputies took a report of a stolen 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup on Highway C near AA. The vehicle in question was parked along the road and listed for sale. Unknown subject contacted vehicle owner and requested to test drive the vehicle. Subject was allowed to drive the vehicle and never returned. The vehicle that the suspect drove to and left there was later determined to be stolen from the KC Metro area.
Wednesday morning at 3:10am Morgan County Deputies observed the Dodge Dakota traveling south on highway 5 just north of US 50. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle which fled and a pursuit ensued. Suspect traveled onto US 50 then onto Syracuse Road and several other gravel roads until reaching highway D. Vehicle continued on highway D south bound. Other deputies were able to deploy stop sticks at Route D and Route Z. Suspect vehicle continued to south on D to Red ribbon road then turned east on Red Ribbon. Vehicle entered the driveway to a private residence before crashing into a fence. Driver then fled on foot and deputies pursued suspect and took a male into custody. A female passenger remained in the vehicle and was also detained. Deputies located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle as well. Both subjects were then transported to the Morgan County Jail. Names of suspects will be released once charges have been filed.
