On 11/17/2016 a Morgan County Detective was on patrol in the Fortuna area and observed two females walking on Highway Z, west of Fortuna. The detective exited his patrol vehicle and made contact with the females. A warrant check on the females revealed Nicole Heather of Fortuna was on Probation for Distribution of a Controlled Substance. The detective was granted consent to search the purse of Heather. During the search the detective located a bag containing a crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Also located in the purse was a silver in color marijuana smoking pipe, known as a “one hitter”. Ms. Heather stated she never leaves home without her “one hitter”. While conducting a consent search of the purse the other female had possession of, the detective located a straw with white residue in it. The straw later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail and were interviewed by detectives. Ms. Heather advised detectives the purse found in possession of the other female belonged to Ms. Heather. The other female was released, and Nicole Heather was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and is currently being held on a $50,000, ten percent Cash or Surety Bond.
